Itron names president, CEO


Itron appointed Philip Mezey president and chief executive officer. He also was named to the board of directors, succeeding LeRoy Nosbaum. Mezey had been president and chief operating officer for Itron's global energy segment. John Holleran was named Itron's executive vice president and chief operating officer for the energy and water segments. He also will serve as interim president of the company's global energy segment.

Fluid Metering expands website


Fluid Metering expanded its product website, www.fmipump.com. The site includes detailed descriptions, animations and videos of the company's CeramPump valveless piston pump design, news releases, applications, catalogs and technical manuals.

Yaskawa Europe acquires majority shares of VIPA


Yaskawa Electric Corp. signed an agreement with its European subsidiary, Yaskawa Europe, to acquire majority share of German-based VIPA, supplier of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), input/output modules and human machine interface (HMI).

CLARCOR chairman retires, Baldwin names VP


Norm Johnson, CLARCOR's executive chairman, retired in November. Johnson is the former president of Baldwin Filters, a CLARCOR company, and served as group vice president and CLARCOR president and COO. Baldwin also promoted Brent Yaw to vice president, international.

Aquatech receives wastewater project award


Aquatech received the H20 Water Award for Best Waste Water Project for its work with EQUATE Petrochemical Co. in Kuwait. Aquatech piloted a project for wastewater recycle/reuse in the oil, gas and petrochemicals industry. The goal of the project is to reduce water consumption and decrease carbon emissions associated with purifying water and reusing treated wastewater for internal use.

OPW Engineered Systems installs robotic welder


OPW Engineered Systems, a division of the OPW Fluid Transfer Group, installed a robotic welder at its manufacturing facility in Lebanon, Ohio. The automatic process produces a consistent, certified X-ray quality weld each time through the use of mechanized programmable tools.

Plibrico adds Canadian refractory contractor


Plibrico Company added Quadra Industrial Services to its network of refractory contractors. Operating from its headquarters in Edmonton, Alberta, and construction office in St. Johns, New Brunswick, Quadra will be Plibrico's PliPartner for Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Labrador, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland.

Flowserve chemical process pump wins innovation award


Flowserve Corp.'s Durco Mark 3 ISO chemical process pump won the 2012 Ringier Technology Innovation Award in the centrifugal pumps category. The award recognizes those who have introduced and developed a new idea, methodology, product or technology for manufacturing production efficiency, cost-effectiveness or user convenience that results in energy savings in the pump and valve industry.

Altra Holdings named among 100 Best Small Public Companies


Altra Holdings, designer, producer and marketer of electromechanical power transmission products, was named among the 100 Best Small Public Companies in America by Forbes magazine. Headquartered in Braintree, Mass., the company has 3,400 employees with forecasted sales of between $720 and $730 million in 2012, a 6.7 to 8.9 percent increase over 2011.

Webasto, ESW form emissions partnership


Webasto Product North America, designer of engine idle reduction technologies, and ESW Group, provider of emissions control products, formed a partnership that will enable fleets and municipalities to obtain DERA (Diesel Emission Reduction Act) funding for emission control and idle reduction equipment. Webasto manufactures fuel-operated heaters that eliminate the need to idle for engine pre-heat and cab comfort. ESW's DPF (diesel particulate filter) removes diesel particulate matter from diesel engine exhaust.

Philippi-Hagenbuch rear eject bodies receive European patent


LeRoy G. Hagenbuch, chief engineer and co-founder of Philippi-Hagenbuch, received a patent from the European Union for the construction and components on the company's line of rear eject bodies. Designed to adapt to any make and model of articulated off-highway truck, the rear eject system eliminates the need to raise the truck body for added dumping safety when the truck is in motion or in the presence of overhead barriers.

Report finds mining byproduct helps clean water


A byproduct from the treatment of acid mine drainage might help clean waters from agricultural and wastewater discharges, according to a study from the U.S. Geological Survey Leetown Science Center. The report shows that dried acid mine drainage sludge, or residuals that result from treating acid mine drainage discharges, can be used as a low-cost adsorbent to remove phosphorus from agricultural and municipal wastewaters. The phosphorus adsorbed by the mine drainage can be stripped from the residuals and recycled into fertilizer.

WJTA-IMCA adopts color-coding scheme


The WaterJet Technology Association-Industrial & Municipal Cleaning Association adopted a color-coding scheme for pressure hoses. Intended to help ensure on-the-job safety by making various hoses easier to identify, the color-coding scheme appears in the Recommended Practices for the Use of High Pressure Waterjetting Equipment, published by WJTA-IMCA. The color code indicates maximum working pressure: yellow, 10,000 psi; green, 15,000; blue, 20,000; silver, 30,000; orange, 40,000; and red, 55,000.

SEEwater names Johnson president


SEEwater, manufacturer of pump control systems that can differentiate between oil and water, promoted Michael Johnson to president. Johnson has been with the company for six years, holding the positions of vice president of sales and marketing and corporate vice president.

Fluid Delivery Solutions opens yard in Oklahoma


Fluid Delivery Solutions, an environmental oilfield services company specializing in water transfers for completions and location containment liners, opened a 5-acre Mississippian Lime yard in Alva, Okla.

Elastec/American Marine acquires oil spill deployment system


Elastec/American Marine acquired Swedish-built BoomVane, an oil spill deployment system for rivers and open water. Fueled by water current, the unit can tow a containment boom from shore without boats or anchors.

Iwaki America expands corporate headquarters


Iwaki America expanded its corporate headquarters in Holliston, Mass., by approximately 25 percent, adding space previously occupied by Terracon Corp., a related business spun off by Iwaki in 2008. Terracon relocated to nearby Franklin, Mass. Iwaki's operations include the design, manufacture and distribution of its water treatment controllers and pumps.

Pipe Restoration Technologies receives patent


Pipe Restoration Technologies received a patent for enhancements to its ePIPE technology that provides for an internal barrier coating and leak-sealing process applied while the pipe remains in place. The patent covers pipes that carry potable water, natural gas, fire sprinkler systems and drains.

Kuriyama of America released its latest oil and gas product catalog for onshore and offshore drilling and production, including the Gatorflow Terrain PVC/Nitrile rubber discharge hose.

Holden Industries acquires Vector Technologies


Holden Industries, parent company of Vac-Con, acquired Vector Technologies. Based in Milwaukee, Vector designs and manufactures industrial vacuum cleaning systems for hazardous and non-hazardous material handling. Holden Industries is an employee-owned company based in Deerfield, Ill., with manufacturing facilities in Illinois, Wisconsin, Ohio, Florida, Texas, Georgia, Michigan, California and Arizona, as well as India and Taiwan.

Kline & Co. names senior vice president


Kline & Co. promoted Geeta Agashe to senior vice president of petroleum and energy on the Kline Management Consulting team. Agashe, an energy industry analyst and speaker, has been with Kline since 1996.


Kalmar manufactures 500th rough terrain reach stacker


Kalmar RT Center manufactured its 500th RT240 rough terrain reach stacker at its plant in Cibolo, Texas. Developed for the U.S. Army in 1999 to move 20- and 40-foot containers, the unit is being utilized on the Gorgon Project, a joint venture led by Chevron to develop Australia's largest known natural gas resource.

JAG names Vanette marketing solutions coordinator


JAG Mobile Solutions, a mobile restroom, shower and specialty trailer manufacturer, named Nickie Vanette marketing and solutions coordinator. Vanette has 12 years of marketing and sales administration experience.

Vermeer names leadership team


Vermeer named Jason Andringa president, forage and environmental solutions, and Doug Hundt president, underground and specialty excavation solutions. Andringa and Hundt will co-chair the executive team. Tony Briggs was named vice president, sales and distribution.
