Over 50,000 concrete professionals converged on Las Vegas earlier this month for the World of Concrete trade show – and Makita was ready with an array of new concrete tools and accessories, with hands-on demonstrations for attendees to feel the difference for themselves.

For Makita, 2015 marks the company’s 100 Year Anniversary, as well as the planned release of the 100th tool in the 18V LXT line-up, the world’s largest cordless tool line-up powered by an 18V slide-style battery.

During the four-day World of Concrete event, Makita presented the very latest concrete solutions in the outdoor Silver Lot area with several tons of concrete forms, where contractors could run the tools in a variety of applications.

"An important part of performance is how the tool feels in your hands, day after day. Makita tools combine industrial power, performance and results with superior comfort and ergonomics. In the end they simply feel better, while at the same time helping contractors work more efficiently to meet their high productivity standards,” said Wayne Hart, communications manager for Makita USA.

Makita demonstrated its unrivaled industry leadership in the concrete category with a range of new tools and accessories. Here are the highlights:

Makita’s exclusive Anti-Vibration Technology (AVT) is more than just a padded or spring-loaded handle. AVT is an internal counterbalance system engineered into the tool that greatly reduces vibration for increased user comfort and productivity. Makita offers an AVT solution in every major hammer class, from 1-inch rotary hammers to 70-pound breaker hammers. At World of Concrete, the recently released 1-9/16-inch AVT Rotary Hammer (HR4013C) and 2-inch AVT Rotary Hammer (HR5212C) were on demonstration, and attendees at World of Concrete experienced the difference for themselves.

Makita has expanded their line-up of concrete tools equipped with AVT. The new 70-pound AVT Breaker Hammer (model HM1812) has a powerful 15 amp motor that delivers a full 68 Joules of impact energy, so contractors get hard-hitting performance but with less noise, lower vibration and zero hassle with an air hose and compressor. The HM1812 features the latest advanced AVT with an internal mechanical counterbalance system, vibration-absorbing housing and fixed movement handles for significantly less vibration during concrete breaking applications. The HM1812 will be available in spring 2015.

Makita also had their lineup of concrete cutting solutions available for demonstration. The 14-inch MM4 Power Cutter (EK7651H), the world's first four-stroke engine power cutter, was powered up for a range of applications. The EK7651H demo highlighted advantages including no fuel mixing, easier starts and superior handling with the retractable wheel kit. The powerful EK7301 was on-hand for attendees to cut metal decking, demonstrating the tool’s 73 cc engine and 5.1 maximum horsepower. For compact performance, the EK6101 weighs only 19.6 pounds, and attendees could feel the difference in a wall-cutting application. For indoor applications, an ideal alternative to a gas-powered saw is the 14-inch SJS Angle Cutter (4114). Users appreciated the power and capacity with zero emissions – and improved dust extraction when used with the Makita Xtract Vac and vacuum attachment.
