WesTech Engineering

The WWETCO FlexFilter from WesTech Engineering is a gravity system and requires no moving parts. It uses a synthetic compressible media to capture solids in a high-rate filtration process. Influent liquid applies a hydrostatic force to a flexible bladder causing media to compress. The tapered compression provides for a densely compressed media bed at the bottom of the filter that graduates to an expanded bed toward the surface. As liquid flows onto the top of the media, larger particles become trapped in the upper portions of the filter. Smaller particles are captured as the liquid works its way down through the media. In addition to being able to handle higher solids loading, the filter has a backwash system that uses an air scour with high-energy wash cycle and specialized backwash troughs to minimize the amount of backwash water needed. 801/265-1000; www.westech-inc.com.
