MSHA training simplifies compliance, saves time

Problem: Swan Electric Co. in Lansing, Michigan, needed MSHA training quickly to gain access to a mine, but wanted a flexible training schedule to avoid shutting down.

Solution: Swan used online Part 46 training from Mine Safety Center as a quick, simple and affordable way to get their training complete so they could get to work. New hire, refresher and newly hired experienced miner courses were available 24/7, anywhere with an Internet connection. This allowed Swan’s employees to complete the required training on their own schedule. Swan’s manager was also able to remotely track his employees’ progress to make sure they completed the training on time. When the employees finished their course, the system automatically completed nearly all the necessary paperwork and provided electronic training records. Kim Redding, a former MSHA inspector and current mine safety consultant, designed the training.

Result: Swan Electric Co. was able to fulfill all of MSHA’s training requirements with zero downtime, automatic paperwork and no hassle. 602/956-6959;
