TMWSuite management software increases dispatch and billing efficiency.
TMWSuite, created by TMW Systems Inc., is a transportation management and billing software solution intended for well servicing companies that move oil, frac sands, water or drilling rigs. The product enhances dispatch using mobile communication and vehicle tracking. It also automates the capture of oilfield transportation tickets and the invoicing procedures that follow.
“The problem it solves in the oil and gas space is taking a manual, paper-driven process and turning it into an electronic, real-time process,” says Brandon Hodges, North American sales manager for energy services. “The direct business benefit is that it decreases the carriers’ days sales outstanding for the work that they’re doing for their customers.”
Hodges recalls one client that verbally communicated with drivers and then waited for the paperwork to come back in. At that point, processing and billing took place within two weeks of job order completion, but with the help of TMWSuite orders are now billed within a day.
It may not seem like a crucial difference-maker at first glance, but every day that money is on the receivables balance sheet it counts against that business, Hodges explains. The cash cannot be used and the revenue cannot be recognized until it is collected. TMWSuite speeds this entire process along.
What sets it apart from similar products is its scalability, notes Hodges, who says that some software providers intentionally focus on the small carriers and others focus on the oil and gas industry’s multibillion-dollar organizations. “We’ve taken the approach that we’re the specialists on transportation management and we have priced our products so that the small carrier can use it and the enterprise level can use it,” he says. “And as those smaller companies grow they don’t have to change software packages.”
As a subsidiary of Trimble Navigation Limited, TMW Systems and its products benefit from the package of companies Trimble has put together – each a subject matter expert in its own right. One sister company specializes in mapping and mileage, for example, and it has all of the proprietary lease roads and all the major shale plays in North America mapped in order to enable users to more effectively route and track ETAs.
