Midway Ford Western Star Truck Center

You Belong Here

It’s the dog days of summer, and your crews are out working long hours and getting the job done every day. You like to give them a pat on the back when they return to the yard, worn out and ready to pull the boots off and grab a cold drink.

But is there more you can do to recognize the efforts of your hardworking employees? What if I told you I have a simple, no-cost solution to bragging up your crew members and generating some promotion for your GOM support services company at the same time?

You’d be all over that, wouldn’t you?

Here’s the deal. This magazine is all for you, and all about you. We’re always on the lookout to feature companies like yours, with employees who play a big – and sometimes unheralded – role in producing the energy that keeps North America humming along. If it weren’t for your folks doing all the challenging support work, the job of energy and mineral extraction companies would get more difficult, and in a hurry.

PEOPLE & MACHINES

We want to bring your important role to light, and share the stories and advancements of the GOM support services industries with your contemporaries. It seems you’re so caught up in answering the call from day to day that you seldom have the opportunity to step back and appreciate how far your businesses have come over the years. We aim to change that.

And we’ve started. Since we launched Gas, Oil & Mining Contractor in January, we’ve featured a variety of successful companies in our Contractor Profile features. And we want to add your company to the list.

Contractors have shared their successes and their ongoing challenges. They’ve told us how they’ve adapted to the fast-changing technology within the industry and talked about the marketing efforts and customer service practices that have helped build a great reputation. And, maybe most importantly, they’ve talked about their workers, the front-line team of employees who mean so much to their enterprises.

People and machines. That’s what our magazine is all about. The well-trained, creative workforce required in these fields and the specialized, reliable machinery that allows these workers to do more and do it better every day. When we put together a profile story, we want to show your crew – in a group photo and working the tools of their trade. By showing them on the job and telling stories about what they do, we’re helping you recognize their contributions and professionalism.

In addition to employee recognition, a profile story in a national publication like GOMC can be a valuable marketing tool for your business. The professionally written and photographed layout puts your company’s best foot forward, accentuating the quality machinery you operate and the important work you do in a vital industry. And we make these stories available to you in an online format that you can post on your website to give visitors a great glimpse into your company.

If you are interested in seeing your company profiled in GOMC, send me your contact information and we’ll consider your company for an upcoming feature. No company is too big or too small to be considered. We’ve profiled everyone from a “mom-and-pop” trucking outfit to a multinational support services giant. Our experience is that all have an interesting story to tell … and a nugget of valuable advice to pass along to our readers.

HOW CAN WE HELP?

And besides landing on a cover story, here are a number of ways your business can participate in GOMC:

Send us your Industry News briefs.

Have you promoted someone to a supervisory role or hired new staffers recently? Send us the information and photos of your employees and we’ll run them in our Industry News feature. How about awards and recognitions? If your company has received an honor or hit an important anniversary or milestone, share that information. Maybe you’ve moved into a new building, opened a branch office or added an important service? We want to know about that, too.

Tell us about your “Money Machine.”

You made a significant capital investment that’s catapulted your revenues to new heights. A new machine is making your job easier, safer, faster, or brought in a new type of customer. We want to know about how you’ve enhanced your business through new equipment. Send a photo of your crews working the product on location and let us share your experiences in our monthly Money Machines feature.

Tout a new technology.

Do you see a new technology coming on that will greatly help support services in the GOM sector? Would you like to know more about how a current technology could help your business grow? Drop me a line and tell me about it. We’ll consider putting together a Tech Perspectives story. In this feature, we go to an expert in the industry to drill down and extract the critical information about a given technology. We ask the questions you would ask, and gather the information you would want to know when deciding if this technology would aid in your company’s growth or result in better service for your customers.

Contribute to greater industry safety.

So many companies in the GOM sectors have excellent safety programs. When it comes to making sure a job is done safely, you take many precautions to ensure workers get back home to their families healthy and happy every night. Maybe you’ve seen an area you think needs a little more concentration when it comes to safety. Maybe there’s a safety issue you’d like to learn more about to protect your workers. If you have a suggestion for our Safety First column, we’re ready to listen.
